TALKING TO PLANTS (RHIZOME STATE) - BOOKS

Four artist books connected to the sound installation Talking to Plants. Each book is made in a small edition of five copies with DIY printing at AMBER PRESS. Inspired by anthropologist and ethnographer Frances Densmore's research on how the Ojibwa people talked to their plants for medicine, the books act as voice pieces and give instructions for the person to read aloud or sing the words to the plants nearby along with burying the book back into the earth afterwards. All images of the ghost plants in each book are courtesy of the Lloyd Library and Museum and were researched during Stucke's fellowship at the Lloyd.
